ATC participates in the European research project ARTIST.
(29/5/2013)
|
|
| |
Migration of legacy applications to and from platform-independent models.
The ARTIST project is a research project co-funded by the European Commission, under the FP7 Programme Objective “Cloud Computing, Internet of Services and advanced software engineering”. It proposes a software modernization approach using Model Driven Engineering techniques to automate the evolution and migration of legacy applications to and from platform-independent models, allowing a cheap and rapid alternative to redeveloping applications by hand. It reduces the risk, time and cost of migrating legacy software and lowers the barriers for service companies wanting to take advantage of the latest Cloud Computing and SaaS-based technologies and business models.
Ôhe ARTIST project proposes a set of methods and tools which reverse-engineer legacy apps and then forward-engineer them to the desired platform. In doing so, the application can take advantage of the latest technology, such as cloud computing, smartphones and security features. Consequently, ARTIST‘s objective is to assess, plan, design, implement and validate the automated evolution of legacy software to SaaS and the Cloud Computing delivery model.
The project will transform the way businesses view software and vitalize the SaaS market by reducing the risk, time and cost of migrating legacy software and lowering the barriers for service companies wanting to take advantage of the latest Cloud Computing and SaaS-based technologies and business models whilst balancing software continuity with optimal performance and cost.
The project brings together two renowned universities (TUWIEN-Austria and ICCS/NTUA-Greece), three internationally recognized research institutes (TECNALIA-Spain, FRAUNHOFER IAO-Germany and INRIA-France) along with two powerful multinationals (ATOS-Spain and ENG-Italy) as well as three specialized SMEs (ATC-Greece, SPIKES-Belgium and SPARX-Austria).

ATC participates in the Future Fashion Design (FFD) Project, co-funded by the European Commission
ATC participates in the FFD (Future Fashion Design Real-time, Accurate Fabric to Garment Virtual Prototyping in Collaborative Environments) Project, which is co-funded by the European Commission under the FP7 Programme.
The FFD project aims to remove the main factors inhibiting the wide adoption of Virtual Prototyping (VP) by the Textile and Clothing companies (TCI), by drastically improving the speed of obtaining realistic garment simulations (development of massively parallel simulation techniques based on multi-core computing), the accuracy (simulation from yarn - to fabric - to garment, virtual garment close to real sample) and the functional integration aspects. The new business model will offer drastic improvements in product development efficiency (reduced number of physical samples from 20% to 100%, time-to-market reduced by 3 weeks, collaboration between fabric and garment producers), services at low-cost (open, vendor independent and scalable platform), while opening new market opportunities to vendors of CAD and PDM/PLM systems.
Apart from ATC, which will develop the Collaborative Design and Prototyping platform (CDP), using our know-how in web integration based on the SOA model, five more prominent organisations are participating in the FFD consortium: A leading European Institute (Fraunhofer-IGD) as Coordinator (will develop the massively parallel simulation engine), Assyst (apparel CAD) and ScotCad (fabric CAD) already offering state-of-the-art 3D VP solutions will work on improving simulation accuracy (from yarn to garment), and two end-users (Piacenza manufacturer of fine woolen fabrics and Consitex, the garment manufacturing member of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group) will integrate the innovative VP platform in their joint product development processes and will demonstrate/ evaluate its efficiency and impact.
The project started in October 2011 and has duration of 36 months.

ATC participates in the PADGETS project
(29/3/2010)
|
|
| |
ATC is one of the main partners in the PADGETS (Policy Gadgets Mashing Underlying Group Knowledge in Web 2.0 Media) Project. PADGETS aims at bringing together two well established domains, the mashup architectural approach of Web 2.0 for creating web applications (gadgets) and the methodology of system dynamics in analyzing complex system behaviour. The objective is to design, develop and deploy a prototype toolset that will allow policy makers to graphically create web applications that will be deployed in the environment of underlying knowledge in Web 2.0 media. The project introduces the concept of Policy Gadget (Padget) – similarly to the approach of gadget applications in Web 2.0 – to represent a micro web application that combines a policy message with underlying group knowledge in social media (in the form of content and user activities) and interacts with end users in popular locations (such as social networks, blogs, forums, news sites, etc) in order to get and convey their input to policy makers.
The project is co-ordinated by the University of the Aegean (Greece), and partners include the National Technical University of Athens (Greece), University of Regensburg (Germany), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), Fraunhofer Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V (Germany), Google (UK), Whitehall Reply srl (Italy), Tech4i2 (UK), Piedmont Region (Italy), The Observatory for the Greek Information Society (Greece) and the Centre for eGovernance Development (Slovenia).
The project (co-funded by the European Commission under the FP7 Programme / Objective “ICT for Governance and Policy Modelling”) started in January 2010 and has duration of 36 months.

(22/3/2010)
|
|
| |
Athens Technology Center participated in the public consultation on draft specifications respecting the Greek e-Prescription System held by the Greek General Secretariat for Commerce.
E-Prescription is the electronic prescription service that the Greek government contemplates adopting in order to replace the current healthcare paper –based prescribing practice with cost-effective e-prescribing. The service will provide substantial benefits across-the-board for groups of end users like doctors, chemists, medical clerks, patients etc…
ATC’s focus is to design a healthcare service-oriented system that will introduce an important element in improving the quality of patient care. All registered medical prescribers will have the ability to electronically send an accurate, error-free and understandable prescription directly to a pharmacy from the point-of-care. The proposed electronic prescribing will give momentum in reducing medication errors and trace prescription forgery, as well as enhancing patient safety.

The distinct factor of the GREDIA platform stands in the possibility to design different scenarios through the use of a scripting language.
GREDIA solutions have been validated in the media and banking sectors. However, they can also be applied to the needs of a wide range of applications in other business domains, which require for advanced mobile-based tele-working solutions.
The project is co-funded by the European Commission and the IST 6th Framework Programme with total costs €3.310.953. The members of the GREDIA consortium are: Athens Technology Center S.A.
