ATC awarded funding from Google DNI to work on Robot Journalism

In the second round of funding from Google's Digital News Initiative, ATC has been awarded a large-scale project around robot journalism, to work together with the Cyprus News Agency, Worldcrunch and NCSR Demokritos.

StoryBot (automated workflows in news production towards robot-assisted journalism) aims to develop a collaborative environment, where journalists will be automatically receiving content relevant to the news topic they are working on. The content will be gathered from Internet and Social Media sources, offered together with analysis, summarisation and verification services. StoryBot will work closely with TruthNest (to provide verification services) and newsasset (for editorial planning and cross-channel publishing).

The project is expected to start in the beginning of 2017 and will have a duration of 21 months.

This award follows our first fund, achieved during the First DNI Funding Round for Verify.media, a collaborative project of ATC and DW, aiming to develop an integrated application that is purpose-built for collaboration between journalists in aggregation, curation and verification of User Generated Content.
