Athens Technology Center (ATC) will be developing a system of personalized routes in selected areas of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as a result of its involvement in the eMT Cluster – the first collaborative initiative for innovation and technology in the region.
The project’s overall goal is to strengthen local entrepreneurship in the tourism sector. In order to achieve this, ATC will develop a digital tourist guide solution, utilizing the infrastructure of the ViaRota application, which is a unique tool for elevating the travel experience by developing personalized tours by analyzing individuals’ habits, interests, and selections.
The solution will enhance visitors’ experience with ready-to-follow routes that include thematic places of interest, and at the same time will promote city and regional values, through personalized touristic paths. More specifically, visitors either via mobile app or online can:
- Plan personalized routes according to personal preferences and criteria, for a specific time period and with the preferable transportation means (bicycle, car, public transport, or on foot) between individual points
- Select predefined routes (cultural, religious, etc.)
- Support local businesses by enabling local enterprises to gain revenues via promoted offers, regarding local products and touristic services
