Epicor Software Corporation was positioned for the third time in a row in the “Visionaries” quadrant, by Gartner, in the report “Magic Quadrant for Cloud ERP for Product-Centric Midsize Enterprises”(MQ), based on product-centric enterprise resource planning (ERP) products offered for deployment as cloud service applications.
According to Gartner, 2020 demonstrated the benefits of cloud ERP, as the pandemic created more urgency for end-user adoption. In specific, the market for cloud ERP software for product-centric enterprises is defined as the ‘application technology that supports the automation of financial and operational activities for the continued manufacturing, delivery, and servicing of various goods’. What needs to be highlighted is that these ERP solutions do not only include operational and financial management capabilities, but they can also offer procurement, human capital management (HCM), and other industry-specific modules.
In today’s business world, the market for ERP for product-centric enterprises is accelerating its transition to cloud deployment models. In specific, Gartner predicts that:
- By 2023, enterprises that have successfully upgraded their ERP will improve at least 40% their IT agility to deliver business outcomes
- By 2023, 60% of product-centric enterprises will utilize standardized ERP capabilities on a ‘composable ERP platform’
- By 2024, 60% of enterprise SaaS applications will be composed from packaged capabilities that provide data, analytical insight and operational application services
Simultaneously, the MQ report evaluates vendors based on the capabilities of their cloud ERP, as well as on “their ability to market and sell these solutions to, and implement and support them for product-centric organizations “.
Reference customers praised Epicor for delivering ‘a solid operational ERP solution for midmarket manufacturing and distribution companies, along with adjacent capabilities for demand planning, inventory and warehouse management’. Furthermore, another identified strength for Epicor ERP is that it can support all major industries (manufacturing, distribution, retail, consumer packaged goods, and construction). Midsize manufacturers can benefit from the company’s industry expertise, accelerators for built-in functionality, discrete manufacturing coverage, and consistent UI across the product set.
Among others, Epicor President Himanshu Palsule stated that this acknowledgement proves that Epicor ERP solutions have ‘the functionality necessary to run a modern, future-ready, manufacturing business looking to capitalize on data, transform digitally in the Cloud, and innovate without limits‘.
Last but not least, the report highlights Epicor’s good vision for using the Microsoft Azure platform. As it is mentioned, Epicor’s partnership with Azure ‘confers the ability to scale fit-for-use solutions for customers and supports its global expansion strategy.
