Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organizations, was positioned for the second time in a row in the “Visionaries” quadrant, by Gartner, Inc., in the “Magic Quadrant for Cloud ERP for Product-Centric Midsize Enterprises” report (MQ), based on product-centric enterprise resource planning (ERP) products offered for deployment as cloud service applications.
Additionally, Epicor received the highest score (4.17 out of 5) in the ERP Functionality use case in Gartner’s 2020 Critical Capabilities report for Cloud ERP for Product-Centric Midsize Enterprises, which is aligned with the 2019 report.
Gartner’s MQ report focuses on cloud ERP solutions that are sold, marketed and delivered as cloud services. In the 2020 report, Gartner has raised the qualification bar, as this year they consider the entire product-centric market including not only midsize, but also large enterprises – the October 2018 report evaluated vendors and products primarily for midsize enterprise buyers. Simultaneously, this report evaluates their vendors based on the capabilities of their cloud ERP, as well as on “their ability to market and sell these solutions to, and implement and support them for product-centric organizations“.

In today’s business world, the market for ERP suites for product-centric enterprises is shifting away from on-premises systems to cloud-based ERPs. In specific, Gartner predicts that:
- By 2022, 30% of large enterprises will have moved to a platform- and product-centric approach with standardized ERP capabilities at the platform core.
- By 2025, the top four ERP vendors will have rebranded themselves as business platform providers.
- By 2025, 40% of ERP implementations will underachieve as a result of underinvestment in integration.
